A more generic solution would be to use the syslog protocol, this would allow the syslog server to direct messages as needed as well as providing a standardized critical/err/notice/info/debug  ... classification. There are syslog servers that support MySQL logging.
I look forward to anyone's comment on this.

March 28th, 2017 directory security[edit]

Each directory in Windows has permissions, which include permission to view folders and files in the directory. It is not clear to me which user needs permission for FileZilla Server. Isn't it the case that if the wrong security is in place for a directory that Filezilla Server will not be able to read the directory?

I had to revert to the previous edition, as the updated article contained too many factual errors and made unbased assumptions about "most users".

The article says that the FileZilla server supports SFTP: "Strong encryption support using SFTP over SSH and FTP over SSL/TLS"

== Either this is an addition to the development version, or it is wrong, probably copied from the client description. I've been struggling with this too. I've managed to generate the certs and establish FTP over SSL or TLS and this works fine, but not SFTP over SSH2. Maybe one of the devs can tell us whether this feature is ready yet?

-- I am curious about the same thing, but as was mentioned before, I believe this was just copied from the client version description.

FTP over SSL/TLS is abbreviated as FTPS, which is something different than SFTP.

FileZilla supports FTPS as mentioned in the article. Nowehre SFTP is mentioned.
