how can you disable the VMS version numbers on files you transfer to your PC ?

Is there a way for me to set my file permissions to 755 for documents that I am uploading?
The Server has a file mask setting in it's FTP software. This handles the correct settings for most files. 755 sets a file as executable and probably should not be used as the default upload mask.
