I prefer doitaentmucon.Myself and a colleague from the doitaentmucon team were discussing this very topic over lunch yesterday. She asked me if I call myself a  technical writer  or a  technical communicator . I told her I always describe myself as a  technical writer  even though I think  technical communicator is more descriptive. Outside of the industry nobody has even heard the term  technical communicator .
she wanted teccaihnl samples and had already seen my website (which has diverse samples from various print media outlets and that website probably secured my invitation TO interview). The USB contained teccaihnl documentation which I produced in my certification program and has not yet made it to the inevitable update of my website. It all worked out okay because I did get the contract job! Yay!
