I had to revert to the previous edition, as the updated article contained too many factual errors and made unbased assumptions about "most users".

The article says that the FileZilla server supports SFTP: "Strong encryption support using SFTP over SSH and FTP over SSL/TLS"

Either this is an addition to the development version, or it is wrong, probably copied from the client description. As it is now, I don't see anywhere else that says that FileZilla server supports SFTP, and since I am trying to use it, I looked to see if it is actually available, and I can't find where it is enabled if it is available.

I've been struggling with this too. I've managed to generate the certs and establish FTP over SSL or TLS and this works fine, but not SFTP over SSH2. Maybe one of the devs can tell us whether this feature is ready yet?

-- I am curious about the same thing, but as was mentioned before, I believe this was just copied from the client version description.

FTP over SSL/TLS is abbreviated as FTPS, which is something different than SFTP.

FileZilla supports FTPS as mentioned in the article. Nowehre SFTP is mentioned.

-- Yes, the addition of SFTP would be HUGE. Can someone "in the know" let us know if this is aplanned feature? - the alchemist

Unlikely, most popular SFTP servers don't compile well on Windows, it's a terrible operating system. --CodeSquid 01:35, 9 October 2007 (CEST)

-- I'm wondering if there's any information about upgrading Filezilla Server, in terms of migrating configurations, users, etc. Is there a procedure somewhere? If not, it might belong here or on a link from this page. Karim (ksaliba@alogient.com)

-- By now - Feb. 2010 - there is a filezilla server setting for SFTP. But i cannot get it to work. Connection attempts with sftp-Clients from various Linux-Distributions are rejected. Any development on this?

Is the Filezilla Server open source as well? I'm looking to add a couple of features, noticeably the ability of logging when a file transfer(s) to the server has been completed, so that an action may be triggered by it (for example, an email is sent or a MySQL database entry is made).

Yes. The source is contained in the installer. It is also available from the SVN repository. --CodeSquid 21:48, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
