Small suggestions:

  • Use proper wiki formatting for the sections
  • Use .png as image file format for the screenshots, .jpg is of bad quality and looks horrible.

Traduções == ==

Help for laypeople

All the filezilla help pages are very shallow, with many lists of options but rarely any explanation of them, so an inexperienced user is none the wiser as to what the choices do or what the terminology means.

Some systematic explanatory help for lay people would make it possible for all users to use the software, and to know if there is a genuine problem when it doesn't work.

Have a non-geek review the help pages and translate jargon into usable instruction.

Atalho == ==

Spanish

Is more widely spoken than english (332 million), but there are people out there which do not understand the language. (It could be Portuguese, I'm not an expert)(Yes, its Portuguese) Thus, english please.

Using Filezilla to upload documents to multiple servers at the same time.

We currently use Filezilla to upload documents to an enterprise management system. Is there a way that we can upload to a secondary server at the same time?

Copying rather than moving

The Using guide says: "Or, you can click on a file, then drag the file (a box is added to the arrow cursor) to the folder where you want to move it. The folder will be highlighted when you are over it. Let go of the mouse button and the file will be moved to the folder."

What if I want to copy (rather than move) and the source and destination are both on the remote server? If I drag and drop, it moves the selected items, but I want to copy instead. 98.245.88.136 02:08, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Do you people have a f.a.c.e.b.o.o.k fan page? I looked for one on twitter but could not discover one, I would really like to become a fan!

error in "Re-registering the shell extension"?

I think these examples are backwards?

Example (32bit): cd "\Program Files\Filezilla FTP Client"
Example (64bit): cd "\Program Files (x86)\FileZilla FTP Client"

On my Windows 7 64bit, I think the 32-bit progs are in Program Files (x86). So shouldn't it be:

Example (32bit): cd "\Program Files (x86)\Filezilla FTP Client"
Example (64bit): cd "\Program Files\FileZilla FTP Client"

The original example is correct. In both cases it applies to the location where FileZilla is actually installed in by default on a 32bit system and on a 64bit system. --CodeSquid 07:02, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

FAQ

Hi

Please I want to know how I can change my username and password. regards

The server is not locating my host, username and password. What do I do?

Using FZ to upload from I-backup.com

Can I use FZ to upload and manage files from a site such as ibackup.com ? If so, what do i type in the host field?

Incorrect latin abbreviations

Both instances of "i.e." in Using the Quick Connect bar should read "e.g."

Thanks, fixed. --CodeSquid 23:00, 28 December 2011 (CET)

Directory Comparison

I find the Directory Comparison option unusable because, even after uploading a file to the server, it never exactly matches the local file either in size or modified time. I know my server is in a different time zone, but the difference is never exactly 1 hour. Presumably the server is changing the modified time to the moment it accepted the file, rather than keeping the time which came with it. The size of the uploaded file usually seems to be smaller by a few tens or hundreds of bytes than the local file. Has anyone else observed this? Or are there settings which might resolve it?
