Introduction

The "FileZilla" project actually encompasses two different pieces of software:

FileZilla Client is a program for transferring files from (and to) so-called FTP servers.

If you encounter an Internet link which starts with ftp:// instead of http://, the file will be fetched from an FTP server. In contrast to usual web browsers, FileZilla doesn't only offer you the possibility to download files, it also offers you to upload, rename and manage files and whole directory trees as well. Please read on here

FileZilla Server is an FTP server, i.e. a program allowing file upload/download.

Using FileZilla Server you can quickly set up a server for internal file exchange as well as for providing files over the internet. Please read on here

For the beginner

If you don't know what to do with the installer you probably just downloaded, you can read the installation guide.

Afterwards or if you already installed FileZilla Client, read Using FileZilla Client to get a little introduction on how to transfer files and how to configure FileZilla Client.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter problems using FileZilla Client, don't despair. Here are some helpful resources for resolving them:

  • For general questions like "Where does FileZilla store all its sites and settings?", please have a look at the FAQ.
  • For instructions on how to set up routers and firewalls, have a look at the network configuration guide.

If you then still don't know how to resolve your issue, you may want to either ask in the Forum or in FileZilla's IRC channel on freenode.net. If you think that you found a bug, the bug tracker is the right place to go.

I am wondering how much heat a pointsg on the holy PS3 is going to create on a blog for gaming addicts??Waiting is probably a good bet at this time. Not only the 40GB PS3 lacks space, backward compatibility, but also doesn't have some of the home entertainement center features the 80GB did. i.e. flash card reader (so you can view on the big screen your latest digital SLR shoot Oh, wait you need the SLR too for that, ouch ouch poor bank account ;-) ).Now while waiting, you might still be able to play. Afterall the PS3 is a toy for male gamers and it shouldn't be mission impossible to find a boyfriend to lend his toy (ok, some serious convincing needed). Eh, been a women should have advantages, one of them been abusing of favors. :pWith regards to getting a much cheaper Wii, notice that Nintendo does have offices in Redmond next to the Microsoft campus, and a company store! Discounted prices for gamers according to my Wii addicted collegues (I am still resisting temptation /come to the dark side Luke!/ /Noooooo ./)

Troubleshooting

There's of course not only help for FileZilla Client, but also for the server:

  • For general questions like "How can I enable anonymous logins?", please have a look at the FAQ.
  • For instructions on how to set up routers and firewalls, also have a look at the network configuration guide.

If you then still don't know how to resolve your issue, you may want to either ask in the Forum or in FileZilla's IRC channel on freenode.net. If you think that you found a bug, the bug tracker is the right place to go.
